Histoy: At the start of Rosemont College, student residets were housed in Main Building, and sometimes "Old Mayfield" - the converted barn from the old Sinnott estate. With an obvious need for resident halls to house students, the Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus named their first new building built on campus to honor their order's foundress, Cornelia Connelly. The cornerstone for the building was laid in May 1925. The building consisted of two wings with 22 gables and a central section built around a courtyard overlooking Connelly Green.

Connelly Hall has seen some changes since its initial building. In 2003, the building was closed to be monumentally changed. The renovations included installing a new heating and air conditioning system, completely rewiring the building, adding an elevator, and dramatically changing the rear of the hall by adding a "great room" that features floor-to-ceiling windows.
